Northern Ireland

Belfast and Northern Ireland are great places to live and work - there are a host of things to do in the city and out into the countryside - we have some of the UK's most iconic ecosystem's on our door step, from Strangford Lough and the Mourne Mountains to Lough Neagh and the Causeway Coast. We have projects ongoing throughout Northern Ireland investigating the interplay between human activities in the environment and biodiversity. Our work spans the fundamental to the applied and we have a portfolio of projects in the research group that focus on different aspects of ecology that are theory led, but which look at the application of fundamental knowledge to real world problems.

If you are interested in working with us, get in touch, we are always open to new collaborations and keen to develop projects with PhD candidates and Postdoctoral candidates and fellows.

Belfast City has a ton of things to see and do from the Cathedral Quarter and restaurants, to street art, museums, music, markets, and pubs - take a look here at visit Belfast's site for an idea of what is on offer!

Whilst the city is great for the Craic - almost every corner of the province is within a 90 minute drive of Belfast, from the Mournes, the Causeway Coast, Lough Neagh and Fermanagh - a fantastic mix of places to visit and study!
